Medical Supply Drive Sponsored by Central FL ABC on 1/20/10

In the wake of a 7.0 magnitude quake in Haiti, thousands have lent their monetary support in the relief efforts for Haiti.

Within our industry many of us have met or interacted with someone who is Haitian, of Haitian descent or ties to the Haitian community. We are asking for your support in an effort that will take place on Wednesday, 1/20/2010 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Lindsay and her staff at Room Service Rentals have donated their facility in Orlando as a drop off location for a Medical Supply Drive. The supplies will be collected, sorted and prepared for two flights leaving for Haiti on Saturday 1/23/2010. The 501c(3) organizations receiving the supplies are:

International Fire Fighters Assistance (www.ifarelief.org)
Both of these organizations have been sending supplies and medical personnel to Haiti over the last few days. They both have flights leaving over the weekend and your donation will be on ground by next week making a difference!

Event Details:

The Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) will be having a local networking group meeting on Wednesday, February 10 at 10:30 am-12:30 pm at The Club at Hidden Creek in Navarre, FL.  The cost of the meeting includes lunch. We are limiting this meeting to 85 attendees.
ABC is open to caterers, florists, wedding consultants, musicians, DJs, photographers - you name it!  For those who have not been before, we normally have 80+ people in attendance!  ABC has been hosting networking meetings in the Panhandle of Florida since November 2008.

 

Our speaker will be, Renee Grannis, Master Bridal Consultant and ABC Director of Ethics and Compliance.
Registration:  Everyone that registers will receive a confirmation Email Monday, February 8.

We will have free copies of Get Married, The Knot, Weddings Unveiled, and Southern Weddings Magazines at the meeting as well!

About the Speaker:  Renee Grannis has been in the wedding industry since 1970. She formed a one-stop shop and operated out of Alabama, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Maryland. By the mid ’80s, she had eight consultants and 28 vendors working for her. She joined the Association of Bridal Consultants in 1985 and became the Association’s Education Director in 1988 and held that position until 2007. She has also been a state coordinator for Virginia and Texas. She is currently the Association’s Director of Ethics and Compliance and is now forming partnerships across the country for educational aspects in the industry.

 
Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) Membership:   We are encouraging wedding consultants/professionals in the area to join.  We want to build a strong network in the area to pass business to back and forth.  There are are annual dues of $195 for wedding vendors and $185 for novice wedding consultants and $265 for wedding consultants (this membership level is based on your educational credits and experience).  Please contact me if you need a membership application.

As we prepare our financials and returns for 2009 we will learn about new laws, credits and incentives available to small business owners. We will also learn steps to take for the 2010 fiscal year.

Mr. Nieves’ work experience spans over twenty five years, including experience covering a variety of public accounting, government and industry experience, most recently, as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and as Senior Tax Auditor with the State of Florida.
