2010 Orlando WOW Awards and Peer Awards

The 2010 Orlando WOW Awards team is proud to introduce, for the first time ever, a special Peer Awards segment!

What are the Peer Awards?

The Peer Awards create an opportunity for Orlando special event professionals to recognize fellow peers for their talents in the year of 2009. The top five professionals who have the highest quantity of name submissions in each Peer of the Year category will then be redistributed to all five organizations (ABC, HSMAI, ISES, MPI, NACE) for final voting on the top five in each category. The person with the most votes will be awarded the PEER OF THE YEAR for that category.

This presentation of the PEER AWARDS will be included in the evening’s festivities and will serve as a precursor to the prestigious WOW Awards ceremony.

2010 Orlando WOW Awards: Decor and Entertainment Sponsors Sought

Planning has begun for the 2010 Orlando WOW Awards Gala!  This years event will be taking place at Hard Rock Live, Friday, September 10th. This event will be presented by ISES Orlando, in partnership with the Orlando Chapters of ABC, HSMAI, MPI, and NACE.

ABC members are encouraged to submit bids for Entertainment and Decor (two separate items). If you have a product or service you would like to contribute, please complete the appropriate form (which can be found on the ISES Orlando website) and submit it by the date requested. (Currently about 2 weeks remaining.)

From the Ketubah to the Horah

We are happy to announce the details for our July Luncheon which will be hosted by Kenthis Philyor at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Orlando on Thursday July 29, 2010. Our July luncheon will be an extended education seminar to help you have a better understanding of the Jewish Wedding and the intricacies of planning the event.

Susan Southerland – Just Marry

Adam Feldman – Sunsational Weddings

Just as our Indian Weddings 101 event last year, you will get an in-depth understanding of your role as an event professional in the wedding planning process, the customs, types of the religion and the celebrations. The Association of Bridal Consultants strives to bring excellence in education and knowledge to its members and this event will not be an exception! The Luncheon counts a 2 hours of Continuing Education for the ABC.

Early Registration is open from now until 5:00PM July 22 (Savings of $5-$10). Your registration includes all printed materials, the seminar and the Kosher-styled luncheon.

An Opportunity to Attend Southeast Regional Conference

Would you like to attend ABC-Florida Southeast Regional Meeting August 20-22 in St. Augustine?

ABC-Florida is sponsoring one registration to this meeting.  To qualify you must:

  1. Be an ABC member in good standing 
  2. Have attended at least one ABC-Florida Local Networking Group (LNG) meeting in 2010 prior to contest deadline
  3. Must have the availability to attend the entire conference.

If you meet these qualifications you will then submit an essay with a minimum of 150 words.  Topic:  Your opinion counts…Tell us what you like/dislike about The Association of Bridal Consultants Florida-Branch Local Networking Group meetings, and what you would suggest to improve the overall experience. 

Please submit your essay via email to lisa@elegantweddingsbylisa.com.  Deadline to submit is July 15, 2010.  The member with the winning essay will be notified before August 1st, 2010. 

*Please note the scholarship will include The opening cocktail reception, Saturday and Sunday educational sessions and Saturday night off site event.  Should you choose to stay at the host hotel this will be at your own expense.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.  Good luck!
