The Association of Bridal Consultants has been the professional organization for the wedding industry since 1981 and has over 4,500 members in 27 countries on six continents.  The Association of Bridal Consultants is a membership service organization, designed to increase awareness of the wedding business and improve the professionalism of members.  Some of our local members include Dave Johnson of A Perfect Wedding Guide, Ron Ralph of A DJ to Go, Stacy Green of Forever I Do Weddings, Jennifer Tarabick of RSVP Weddings & Rentals, Merri Ward of The Big Day Rentals, Penny Shenkel of Penny Shenkel Orchestras, Naomi Conner of The Angus Restaurant, Victoria Volpone of Carillon Weddings, and Stephanie Tate of Savoir-Faire Weddings.  Between the Panhandle of Florida and Lower Alabama, we are 40+ members strong!

Event Details:

The Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) will be having a local networking group meeting on Wednesday, April 14 at 10:30 am-12:30 pm at Ruth’s Chris in Destin, FL.  The cost of the meeting includes lunch. We are limiting this meeting to 50 attendees.
ABC is open to caterers, florists, wedding consultants, musicians, DJs, photographers - you name it!  For those who have not been before, we normally have 80+ people in attendance!  ABC has been hosting networking meetings in the Panhandle of Florida since November 2008.
 
Registration:  Everyone that registers will receive a confirmation Email Monday, April 12. 
Our speaker will be, Rollan Roberts II, owner and Founder of idream.

About the Speaker:  Rollan grew up in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. Although he was surrounded with mental and financial poverty, he decided early on that his reality did not equal his destiny. With an unwavering determination and commitment to excellence, Rollan graduated college with his Bachelor’s degree in 5 semesters while working full time jobs to pay his own way! After finishing up his first year of college and starting with nothing at 18, he became a millionaire shortly after graduating college at the age of 21. After losing everything shortly thereafter, he fought back to enjoy years of success in corporate America and has started several successful businesses. He is the Founder and CEO of idream, a personal development Leadership Training System, and hosts a weekly TV program inspiring people to pursue their dreams. He has two best-selling, internationally-released books entitled Born to be Rich and Born to Dream – both of which have been translated into numerous languages!  Today, Rollan is best known around the globe as “The Dream Builder” and invests his time as an empowerment speaker, author, business owner, thought leader, TV personality, and business consultant.

  
Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) Membership:   We are encouraging wedding consultants/professionals in the area to join.  We want to build a strong network in the area to pass business to back and forth.  There are are annual dues of $195 for wedding vendors and $185 for novice wedding consultants and $265 for wedding consultants (this membership level is based on your educational credits and experience).  Please contact me if you need a membership application.

Our speaker will be, Renee Grannis, Master Bridal Consultant and ABC Director of Ethics and Compliance.  Her topic will be: “The Ins and Outs of Ethics”.  Please send in your specific situations
and we can discuss them at the meeting.
As well, Gwen Hall from Sunquest Cruises will be giving a presentation surrounding the noise ordinance issues in Walton County.  This is an important topic that could have an economic impact on all of us.

About the Speaker:  Renee Grannis has been in the wedding industry since 1970. She formed a one-stop shop and operated out of Alabama, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Maryland. By the mid ’80s, she had eight consultants and 28 vendors working for her. She joined the Association of Bridal Consultants in 1985 and became the Association’s Education Director in 1988 and held that position until 2007. She has also been a state coordinator for Virginia and Texas. She is currently the Association’s Director of Ethics and Compliance and is now forming partnerships across the country for educational aspects in the industry.

Event Details:

The Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) will be having an informal local networking group meeting in Lower Alabama.  The purpose of the meeting is to get a local networking group started in Lower Alabama.  We will also have socializing and FUN!  The meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 13 at 10:30 am-12:30 pm at True Restaurant in Mobile, Alabama.  The cost to attend is $15, which includes lunch, coffee or tea, tax, and tip. Everyone can pay the day of the event.

photographers - you name it!  For those who have not been before, we
normally have 70+ people in attendance!  ABC has been hosting
networking meetings in the Panhandle of Florida since November 2008.

For our January 13 meeting, Naomi Mauer of Victorian Lace of Mobile vintage bridal shop, will speak to us about “Overcoming the Fear Factors of Niche Marketing”. 

About the Speaker: Naomi Maurer opened a little bridal boutique called
Victorian Lace with approximately 300 vintage gowns in May of 2007 in downtown Mobile on Government Street.
As of Jan. 1st this year, she has partnered with her alterations professional,
Connie Cotton, added about 900 square feet to the store, now has about 1300 gowns and dresses, thousands of veils, headpieces and other accessories and has changed the name of their establishment to The Timeless Bride. They offer many specialty services such as custom gowns, veil and accessories and have a reputation for their extraordinary heirloom transformations. They are also the only place in Mobile that accepts new and used bridal wear on consignment.
